The beginning of a long decline of textile export from India in 1811 to 12 piece of goods accounted for 33% of India's export by 1850 51 it was no more than 3%.

So the weavers could bargain and the try selling the produce to the best buyer. Once the Company established its power it could assert a monopoly right to trade. It developed a system of management and control that would eliminate the competition, control cost and ensure regular supplies.
