Answer: The fall of ivy leaves have a direct connection with Johnny's illness. Johnny is suffering from pneumonia due to which she has lost her self-confidence and has no desire to live. There is an ivy creeper just outside of her bedroom's window. As the strong wind blows and leaves of that creeper use to fall, she compares her no. of days in this world . She thinks that when the last leaf of that creeper will fall, she will be no more in the world.
