The Jagirs collected the revenues from the zamindars on behalf of the mansabdars. The Jagirs were transferred frequently to instill a sense of insecurity in them and prevent them from becoming powerful. Apart from the frequent transfers, even the hereditary claim to the personal property was disallowed in proportion to the revenues the late mansabdar owed to the state.
