Gonds established a large kingdom in 15th century called Garh Katanga. By marrying into the Rajputs their social status was improved. In 1565 their queen Rani Durgavati was attacked by Mughal force under Asaf Khan . The gonds showed that if resources are organised properly ,the tribes also assert their independence
