Telangana Haritha Hiram: It is a great organized by Telangana Government motivated to increase the present 24% tree cover to 33% tree covered area of the of the total area of the State, and it was inaugurated by Telangana Chief Minister Sri Chandrasekhar Rao in July 2015.
The first objective is sought to be achieved by a multi-pronged approach of rejuvenating degraded forests, ensuring the more effective protection of forests against smuggling, and other abuses.
Social Afforestation was targeted at achieving the second objective.
In outside notified forest, massive planting activities have been planned to be taken up in areas such like road-side avenues, river and canal bank, barren hill, tank bunds, and foreshore areas, and other areas
