How did the Indians belonging to different communities, regions and languages develop a sense of collective belongingness ?

this sense of collectiveness is known as unity in diversity. India is a diversified nation with many religions, caste,race etc....but on the whole we all are Indians . this sense makes all people to live happily without any differences in languages etc. unity in diversity is unique for India. brotherhood is the most common feature of India which binds them together irrespective of their differences. India pledge themselves that shall respect every Indian and treat them as brothers and sisters. India is famous all over the world for its unique unity in diversity. in this way belonging to different languages,culture etc..develop a sense of collective belongingness.
