The backstage of the revolt goes back half a century when the Indigo plantation was established. In the month of February and March, 1859, Indigo planters started a revolt in the state of West Bengal. The peasants boldly refused the British orders and decided that they would not sow a single seed of the Indigo plant. The strength of the farmers’ resolution dramatically stronger than anticipated from a community victimized by brutal treatment for about half the century. Most importantly, it was a revolt of both the major religious groups of farmers in Bengal, notably a farmer Haji Molla of Chandpur, said that he would “rather beg than sow indigo”. They continued this non violent revolt by boycotting Indigo plantation. Even Many farmers were ruthlessly executed during the revolt which created a huge stir in the media

Explanation:

the answer is:-

the indigo planters, when being sick of the torture on them by British ,they used to use violence but it failed as the army of the British us too big to be fought by lathis.

so ,the another protest way they used was to boycott the plantation of indigo which has been bringing a lot of profit to British and is also highly expensive for the planters as it requires a special way to dur and dry before using it as a fibre.

hope it helps you.....
