Scientists do not know how life began on Earth, but they do know that the early Earth's atmosphere was very different from the atmosphere now. In 1952, Stanley Miller was working with Harold C. Urey designed an experiment to see how complex organic molecules might have formed under the conditions of early Earth.

THE EARLIEST KNOWN LIFE FORMS ON EARTH ARE PUTATIVE FOSSILISED MICRO ORGANISMS , FOUND IN HYDRO THERMAL VENT PRECIPITATES THAT MAY HAVE LIVED AS EARLY AS 4.28 BILLION YEARS AGO , RELATIVELY SOON AFTER OCEANS FORMED 4.41 BILLION YEARS AGO AND NOT LONG AFTER THE FORMATION OF THE EARTH 4.54 BILLION YEARS AGO.
THE FIRST CELL EMERGED AT LEAST 3.8 BILLION YEARS AGO APPROXIMATELY, 750 MILLION YEARS AFTER THE EARTH WAS FORMED.
