Life after the discovery of petroleum was no way near life before petroleum. The petroleum sector in Saudi Arabia accounts for around 45% of budget revenues, 55% of GDP, and 90% of export earnings. The government is encouraging private sector growth to lessen the kingdom's dependence on oil and increase employment opportunities for the increasing Saudi population. With high oil revenues enabling the government to post large budget surpluses, Riyadh has been able to substantially increase their quota for job training and development of infrastructure. Wealth obtained from petroleum made Saudis heedless and arrogant. They spent money like the Americans. In elite accommodations, the lifestyle resembles that of Europeans consisting of well-established and luxurious living spaces with mostly foreigner neighborhood.

Hope this answer helped.

Thanks for Asking.
