He realised it during his lifetime because he was well aware about the situation in Italy about it's division into a number of small states and kingdoms.His motive was the unified Italy where there will be unification of the several states and kingdoms of the peninsula into a single republic that will be true foundation of Italian liberty.He had a belief that it can be achieved only through popular uprising.He also set up two secret societies, namely Young Italy and Young Europe. These societies helped in the dissemination of his ideas.
