The narrator grandfather in the portrait looked like a century old person with a long white beard which ran in a flowing manner.

I seemed the grandfather had many grandchildren, but the grandmother was actually too young for him.

The grandfather looked odd when compared with the grandmother about his age.

Answer :

In the short story 'The Portrait of a Lady' by Khushwant Singh, the narrator gives a vivid description of his grandfather in the portrait.

The grandfather's portrait hung above the mantelpiece in the drawing room. The grandfather wore a big turban and loose fitting clothes in the portrait. He had a long, white beard and looked at least a hundred years old. He did not look like he had ever been young or had a wife or  children. He looked as if he had always been a grandfather.
