the northern plains of india become extremely fertile because:
✯ major rivers namely Indus, Brahmaputra, and Ganga flow through the northern plains.
✯ these rivers carry with them important minerals which contribute in making the soil extremely fertile.
✯ mainly the rivers carry with them sand, silt and clay.
✯ moreover, the rivers carry with them organic matter which enhances the quality of soil even more.
✯ this is only due to alluvial soil that most of the farmers live in the northern plains.
