John hallock was invited by his wife to take part in the ouija board games.but john had earlier promised Helen,the ghost, to stop others from using Ouija board. as he broke his word,Helen called him a traitor in front of everyone.

John hallock had promised Helen that he would dissuade other people from using the Ouija board. He feared Helen's reaction after knowing that he had also taken part in the Ouija board party. John was Laura Hinkles partner and as they started Helen describes John as a traitor and all the women gathered discussing about the possible relation between Helen and Hallock. So John had to leave the room out of shame .
