the use of fire was discovered during the Paleolithic Age (old stone age). More precisely, how to use fire was discovered between 1/2 million to 1 1/2 million years ago. The discoverers were probably Homo Erectus. The first hominid encounter with making fire should have occurred whenever a hominid used flint as a material to shape into stone tools since flint makes sparks.
