in the olden days it wasn t that easy to travel as well as not that fast either. Most travel was by boat , hose drawn carriages or simply by foot. Obviously , travel was not that easy and one had to plan before travelling and prepare oneself against diseases on the way. Diseases such as malaria , smallpox and the likes. One also had to prepare

for a place to stay and have enough money to last for the journey. travelling in the olden days also meant one had to be physically fit to do so because one would have to go through long hours of walking (if that is the case) , new weather conditions (that is extreme cold ,extreme heat, windy weather or turbulent waters)and probably robbery.Only the rich could afford a secure and comfortable journey.

Thus travelling was done when the need was pressing and urgent.
