- Printing reduced the cost of books
- Time and labour required to produce each book came down
- Good amount of books could be published which could reach to large audience
- Literacy rate increased
- Printers started publishing ballads and folk tales with illustrated pictures
- Oral culture entered print and printed material was orally transmitted
- Later, women, children and workers also became part of reading culture
