1.the rajputs played an important role in medieval india. they were famous for their bravery.there is no clarity about the origin of the rajputs.
2.the word 'rajput 'means 'son of a RAJA '.but all therajputs do not belong to royal families.
3.many rajput familiestrace their origin to sun or moon andthus are known  as suryavanshi or chandravanshi.
4.some historian believe that the rajputs are the desendants of  foreign tribes who had settled in india.
5.it is also believed that  the main four clans of rajputs were born from fire altars.hence,they are also known as agnikulas.
