The Saminists protest the Dutch by laying down themselves on their land when the Dutch surveyors began classifying public and salary land and used to shout “Kanggo” (I own it). They cut teak notwithstanding Dutch attempts to protect the forest. moreover, they denied paying taxes, fines and to move from the rented or communal land. Some of them piled stones on the roads which they had been assigned to build.
