The hand of the sculptor had mocked the arrogance and ambition of Ozymandias. While the king thought that the sculpture would preserve his achievements lastingly, the sculptor himself knew that they would not stand the ravages of time. He knew that the expression that his hand put on the face of the statue, that of "cold command" was only in vain.
