During Second World War, when men went to fight the women had to work instead. Doing factory jobs wearing traditional gowns proved to be a challenge therefore a change in clothing was required. The gowns were soon abandoned and long skirts were then became common. with increase in need of free movement in factories and offices, the length of skirt became shorter and more comfortable according to women's needs.
