The Second World War came to an end with the German Surrender in the European continent. Following this, the overseas territories of Germany were annexed by the Allied Powers and all of Hitler's holocaust camps were liberated. When the Japanese refused to surrender, the United States dropped the Little Boy atomic bomb and the Fat Man atomic bomb over Hiroshima and Nagasaki, leading to mass devastation. All the eastern territories conquered during the Japanese Capture were taken over by the Allies, one such territory was Korea which was seized by the US and the USSR.

Japan, did not surrender at the same time as Germany. It was able to hold out for another few months. Atomic bombs were dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki on August 6 and 9 respectively. After that the Imperial government sought the Emperor's personal authority to surrender which he granted. He made a personal radio address announcing the decision.
