Qutub-ud-din Aibak
The real founder of the Turkish empire in India was Qutub-ud-din Aibak. Even though it was Mohammad Ghori who established Turkish rule in India following his victory over Prithvi Raj Chauhan in 1192, he did not rule over India. Instead, he left Qutub-ud-din as his Governor in Delhi.

Answer:

By the tenth century AD, the power of the Abbasid caliphate was on the decline. Many of

the Arab territories came under new rulers. These rulers recruited many hardy and warlike

Turkish tribesmen from Central Asia as soldiers and generals. Some of the Turkish generals

later converted to Islam and rose to the status of governors of provinces. Some of these

governors even set up independent states. The Turkish rulers assumed titles like amir and

sultan. The ruler of the state of Ghazni, in modern Afghanistan, carried out a series of raids

into India in the eleventh century AD. After the eleventh century, different groups of Turks,

namely, the Seljuk, Ghorid and Ottoman Turks, controlled West Asia.
