Urbanization saw expansive growth during the 17th century. This period is also referred to as the medieval period. There was an influx of people from other adjoining countries. Turks, Arabs and Afghans came and settled in various parts of the country. This lead to rapid growth of towns and cities.

They are temple towns, administrative town and commercial town. The towns were classified upon the functions they performed.
