After Constantinople , the capital of Byzantine Empire was conquered by Ottoman Turks in 1453, the only trade route between Europe and SE Asia was closed.
The trade of spices , textiles etc with India brought great profits to the European kings. They financed expeditions to find a new trade route to India . This newly found road later transformed into a highly distributed trading centre, known as SILK ROAD brought together the EAST and WEST. People came to know about the advances , culture and tradition of people of the other part of the world . This new thinking and ideas helped develop the Spirit of Scientific enquiry in Europe thus helping renaissance to spread.
