In 326 BCE, Alexander the Great from Greek invaded India. There he he defeated Porus and captured Punjab. During this, there arose a conflict in people in Greece. Therefore, he had to return back to Greece. He appointed some officers to look after the conquered territories in India. They were known as Satraps. On the way to Greece, he was killed in Babylon. Due to his invasion in India, the west Asia became familiar with Indian culture in the ancient times.
