Theories of distributive justice seek to specify what is meant by a just allotment of income and wealth among members of a society. To better understand the notion of distributive justice, we might begin by asking as to its essence, or essential meaning. Distribution comes from the Latin verb distribuere, from dis-: ‘apart’ and tribuere: ‘assign;’ the assignation of the constituent parts of a thing, in this case the economy, its benefits and costs. Arguments as to the nature of justice hold a profound history in the course of Western philosophical traditions, which cannot be adequately treated here. Nevertheless, etymologically, ‘justice’ shares a root with the Latin ius or law, that is, that which, as a matter of guidance, makes something no longer arbitrary. Justice as a grounded, predictable notion of allotment can be thought of in more colloquial terms as ‘to each his own.’ The question as to which set of distributive principles most adequately allows people to enjoy their ‘own,’ is the fundamental essence of distributive justice. In this way, and as it pertains to the sphere of development work, distributive justice is the morality that indelibly guides economic, social and political processes and, importantly, the choices that each society faces as whether or not to sustain, modify or reject abiding laws, policies, institutions, etc.

Distributive justice implies fair division of assets among the members of the community.

In India or any other developing Countries, we find differences between the community. The society will be separated into three categories Rich, Middle and poor. Among all these categories, we find the irregular allocation of assets where rich are becoming more richer day by day and Poor do not have any share among these assets of the country and even becoming more poor day by day.

In order to accomplish distributive justice, India has come up with several projects which targeted limited and very low-income societies, PDS (Public Distributive System) so that the condition of society can be improved and status of poor can be uplifted.
