When an acid and a base react with each other they form salt and water only . Thi type of reaction is called neutralisation reaction.

Example of neutralisation reaction are :

i) NaOH + HCl ------------> NaCl + H2

ii) NH4OH + HCl -----------> NH4Cl + H2

Here bases sodium hydroxide and ammonium hydroxide react with hydrochloric acid to form their respective salts .
