The response of Africans to the challenges of modernity as revealed is as follows:

  • Alteration of self-image: It is a stereotype that the people of Africa are still living in the past. We'll, not only Africa but also Asia has always taken a hold of their tradition. Modernization means the involvement of Western ideas in the present locality. Modernity has altered the image of Africans, they are no more what they were. In the ongoing progress, their tradition is somewhere left behind.
  • Change in social life: The people of Africa have adopted changes regarding social matters. They are involving Western ideas in their lifestyle. For example, the traditional African society lived in joint families, and now people like to live in nuclear families.
  • Change in religion: However, Christianity was brought to Africa in the 19th century by Christian missionaries, and it is the fastest-growing religion there. Many people still practice their traditional religion but the western religion is strengthening its roots.
  • Traditional dance, music, and games: Rather than enjoying their traditional recreational activities, Africans have adopted Western ideas here too.

Modernity is bringing a lot of changes into the African society and the people are sometimes slowly and sometimes quickly grabbing those ideals.
