Dams help in providing water because where dams are sistuated there are so many gates so one of the gate is open for providing water to people and animals and rest of all the gates are closed to control the flow of water.

Dam is a barrier thet stops or restricts the flow of water or underground streams. Reservoirs created by dams not only supress flood but also provide water to activities such as irrigation, industrial use etc..
