elephantiasis is caused by WUCHERERIA BANCROFTI. they attack in the lymphatic vessels of man.they release sheathed microfilaria larvae into lymph of man.micro filaria larvae measures 0.2 to 0.3 mm .they migrate to the blood circulation and reside during day time and they move peripheral blood circulation during the night time in man.
they die if they dont transfer to mosquito.
in mosquito the ex sheath microfilaria larva penatrates the gut wall and reach hemocoel from there they reach thoracic muscles and transforms SAUSAGED SHAPED LARVA under go moultings within 10 to 20 days and becomes 3 rd stage microfilaria and reaches labium of mosquito.
