How do guard cells regulate transpiration?

By opening and closing stomata, guard cells regulates the amount of water evaporated i.e, Transpirated.

Guard cells regulate the transpiration by opening and closing of the stomatal pores.when the water flows through stomatal pores, the guard cells swell , resulting into opening of the stomatal pores. When the water flows back , the guard cells shrink, resulting into the closing of the stomatal pores.
