The heart is a pumping organ which pumps blood and help it to be carried to different parts of the body. Our heart is also known as "double pump". The size of it is roughly equal to our fist. The heart is made up of a special muscle called 'cardiac muscles'. It is hollow from inside and is located in the chest cavity slightly towards the left side.
It have 4 compartments also called chambers which are-
I) Left atrium
2) Right atrium
3) Left ventricle
4) Right ventricle.
Now, the pulmonary vein brings oxygenated blood to the heart. The left ventricle pumps it into main artery. Now, it goes to all parts of body and comes back to the right atrium where it gets pushed down into the right ventricle and then it goes through the pulmonary artery.
Hope it helps.
