How do I advertise a new social networking website?
Answers
Promote Your Website With Ad Spend. Every major social network offers a variety of advertising objectives you can use to promote your new website. You can choose from Facebook boosted posts, Twitter or LinkedIn website click ads, Pinterest promoted pins, and so much more.
Answer:
First impressions matter a lot and nothing is inviting about the website when I first land there (with all due respect). It looks dead. It needs life. Again, this is the first opportunity you get to impress potential users. Knowing this now, what’s the most important things you want your audience to know?
What makes social media sites desirable? Why do people go to social media?
I want to share my images/videos
I want to connect with friends/family
I want people to know about my business
I want to message someone
I want to make new friends
I want to grow my business
Think about it, why do you use social media? As humans, we’re selfish. We want to know what cool things we can do with this new social media platform. We think, “how can this benefit me?”
Before you get people signing up, you need to give them a reason to sign up. That can change once you have brand advocates doing the pitches for you. Starting out, you need to give them the reasons to join your platform.
If it’s a social networking platform, showcase those benefits and results to excite people to sign up.
Feedback
Your first users are vital and if you do this right, you’ll know exactly what to do to give them a better experience. Get feedback from your users, ask them what they like, what they don’t like and how you can improve the experience.
Ask them what features they like, what features they don’t and what you could add to make it better. We love giving our input, so never be tempted to ask.
Marketing
There’s a lot of ways to promote your business. A lot of people make the mistake of trying to be everywhere at once. That can spread you thin.
Here’s what I recommend.
New users should be your focus. You only need one user funnel to make that happen. Paid ads are going to be the quickest way to make it happen. Facebook ads is likely your best option. YouTube is another great opportunity for paid ads.
Drive users to the top of your funnel. You only need one system to do this. Keep an eye on the stats and focus on your numbers. Continue to improve this one system over time.
You add incentives to influence others to take action and share the site.
It wouldn’t hurt to have an influencer endorsing the platform.
Before I Did That
I would make sure I had the features dialed in. Make sure your user funnel is dialed in. As someone else has already stated, you do want to share your story and “why.” Those 2 are important.
Document everything. You need to know what works, what doesn’t and avoid not knowing and guessing. Make careful calculations.
Always think about the end user, you’ll never go wrong thinking that way.
Best of luck!
