hiii dude here's is your answer

Buddha said " if you pull the strings of Veena too tight, then they will break off. If you keep them too loose, no music will be produced" this statement summarizes the statecraft. If a ruler tries to impose very harsh rules and practices on his subjects, they eventually lose trust. And this is what Aurangzeb did. He imposed religious restrictions. He also followed the policy of cruel annexations. Ultimately, that lead to generation of powerful rebellions. Sikhs and Marathas gallantly opposed him. And became so powerful that it becomes impossible for his descendants to control him. Moreover, he did not trust anyone. Even his own sons. If he found them rebellious, he killed them. Because of that he wasn't able to raise an effective heir for his empire. Now, answer of your question. Without Aurangzeb, Shahzahn's favorite son Dara Shikoh would have succeeded him.
