Carbon monoxide (CO) has more affinity towards haemoglobin ,the respiratory pigment than oxygen thus reducing oxygen carrying capacity of blood.So if carbon monoxide is inhaled ,there will be lack of sufficient supply of oxygen human body which can even cause death of the person.

CO, Carbon monoxide is produced from combustion of organic matter with restricted oxygen supply, which inhibit complete oxidation to CO2.

Sources of carbon monoxide are cigarette smoke, house fires, heaters, etc.

 It is a colorless and odorless gas that is not toxic to all kind of life . It is initially non-irritating.

CO is absorbed easily by lungs and then it binds with hemoglobin  that can lead to nervous system damage, hypoxic injury and even death. Inhaling CO often can lead to heart damage.
