How do leguminous plants increase the soil fertility?

Answer: they increase soil fertility as the provide soil with rhizobium bacteria to the soil.This bacteria contains nitrogen in it and is very helpful for other plant and soil too!

In the roots nodules of leguminous plants there is bacteria present called rhizobium bacteria . It absorb nitrogen gas from the atmosphere and convert it into simple nitrogenous compound called nitrates . After harvesting when the roots decompose the nitrates present in the roots nodules mix with this soil and enrich it with the nitrogenous compounds and hence increase the soil fertility .
