Hi,
The lightning rod is a device used to in building so as to protect it from the harmful effects of lightning. Lightning is more likely to strike projecting objects such as trees, poles, and buildings because the materials in them provide an easier path to the ground than air. A lightning rod is a long metal that runs from the top to bottom along the outer wall of the building to be protected. The lower end is connected to a metal plate buried deep under the ground. If lightning strikes, the conductor provides an easy path for the charge to pass to the ground, thus protecting the building from damage.
