Answer:

Living organisms bring about weathering of rocks. *Lichens is a symbiotic relationship between different organisms - a fungus and an alga. Fungus provides the shelter and alga synthesizes the food. Hence, lichens exhibit autotrophic mode of nutrition. Lichens growing on the surface of rocks release chemicals which powder the rocks into soil. This process brings about the weathering of rocks. *Roots of some plants growing on the rocks penetrate deep into them and cause cracks in them. These cracks slowly increase in size and finally result in the process of weathering of rocks.
