How do migrants influence culture?

Sometimes the immigrant group actually grows in size and dominance until the immigrant culture becomes the dominant culture in that region — for instance, see the Anglo and Chicano cultures of the American Southwest. people of Mexican descent and culture, who were actually living there before those territories became part of the United States, are now a cultural minority, in a region that is now largely dominated by Anglo-American culture. This began with immigration to those parts of Mexico (mainly Texas and California) by Anglo-Americans in the early 19th century and onwards, with Mexico ceding those areas to the U.S. in the mid-19th century.
