Mimosa plant shows nastic movements. Mimosa or touch me not plant folds it’s leaves on touch. The direction of movement of the leaves do not depend upon the direction of the stimulus.
Therefore it shows thigmonasty.
Mimosa plant has pad like swelling called pulvini at the base of the leaf. Pulvini contain a lot of water due to which they are firm and hold the plant upright.
When we touch the leaf there is a sudden loss of water from the pulvini due to which it loses it’s firmness causing he leaf to droop.
Hope u understood.
