Petroleum and natural gas occur in nature in following ways ------»

★ PETROLEUM :----- It is found at moderate depth ( 500m – 2000m ) between two layers of impressive rock , and are usually found in salty water and saline water. Petroleum being lighter than salt water floats over it and natural gas is found above the petroleum and its trapped between the rock cap and the petroleum layer.

★ NATURAL GAS :----- Whereas the natural gas are found above the layer of petroleum in oil wells. (Occurence / Location ) of natural gas are as follows :----- Godavari , Krishna basin , mumbai high and tirpura.
