Pitcher plant has partial heterotrophic mode of nutrition. It performs photosynthesis.

To meet its nitrogenous requirement it feeds on insects since pitcher plant grows in nitrogen deficient soil.

In a pitcher plant, the leaf is modified to form a pitcher like structure.
