Plants absorb carbon dioxide for respiration and photosynthesis and release oxygen. This oxygen is inhaled by the animals and also they breathe out carbon dioxide which is again absorbed by the plants and hence the cycle continues. In this way, plants and animals help each other in the exchange of gases.
