Plants can survive without chlorophyll, chlorophyll helps the plant make its own food and give the green colour. Mostly, plants are autotrophic but plants which lack chlorophyll due to some deficiency in the soil, they convert to heterotrophic nutrition. And when they do that, they develop some features which helps them take food from other organisms. For example:- Pitcher plant’s leaf is modified to a pitcher kind of shape which helps it trap the insects.
