interaction between racial groups in contemporary America include many activities, working together, going to school, shopping, playing sports, the list almost in today’s society. Anymore, in most areas interaction between racial groups is just everyday human interaction. The interactions are more positive now than they have ever been in past centuries, although there are still some negative as well, and for the individuals that are still not willing to change their mindset, yet do not want to be seen as racist, there are still neutral interactions also. Overall society has taken an open-minded

approach to ending racism, according to Brownstein (2012), “Two-thirds of Americans with interracial friendships say they have more friends of different races than their parents did; that includes solid majorities of whites, African-Americans, and Hispanics”, giving proof to the changing of a society’s thinking. Are there existing social inequities based on race? Why or why not?I do believe that social inequities based on race still exist today. When we look at cases of racial profiling, and mistreatment of individuals by law enforcement based on race, gender, or even religion. Understandably, law enforcement must respond to individuals based on their past actions and history, this allows them to have a better idea of the person they are dealing with, and also protects them. Unfortunately, there are manycases of law enforcement unfairly stereotyping and discriminating against individuals.
