how do solids, liquids and gas different in shape and volume

it is so because volume and shape depends upon the interparticle space so solid has less space so it is rigid and like this water has less interparticle space than solid a nd gases doesnot. ........hope it helps......

A gas is a substance with no definitevolume and no definite shape. Solidsand liquids have volumes that do not change easily. A gas, on the other hand, has a vol- ume that changes to match the volume of its container. The molecules in a gas are very far apart compared with the molecules in asolid or a liquid.
