Carnivorous plants are plants which get nutrients from trapping and eating animals . They are also called as Insectivorous plants .
Pitcher plants trap insects by their leaves which are modified in cupped shaped and it is filled with the digesting liquid. This digestive enzyme (secreted by plants) will dissolve prey. Insects such as flies are attracted to the cavity , often by visual lures such as anthocyanin pigments , and nectar bribes.
Some species produce scents to attract their prey.
