How do the areas covered with concrete affect the availability of groundwater ?

The rainwater is soaked up by the soil and the water sinks deep in the soil layers and we use it as groundwater.
When the land is covered by concrete the soil can no longer soak the water and the availability of groundwater decreases in the area.
