how do the shoot and roots of a plant respond to the pull of earth gravity?

The shoot of plant is negatively geotropic that is it is not attracted by gravity & it grows opposite to the direction of gravitational pull. 
In roots it is positively geotropic that is it grows to the direction of gravitational pull.
