Many unicellular organisms live in bodies of water and must move around to find food. Most often, they must obtain nutrients by eating other organisms. Plant-like protists, and some types of bacteria, can make their own food through photosynthesis

hey mate...

here is your answer...

There are many, many different ways. Some absorb it from the water round them (some bacteria), some give off something to lqiuify their food (some bacteria) some engulf it (amoeba), some photosynthesize (algae, blue green bacteria), some chemosynthesize (some bacteria), and so forth.

There are fine variations on all of these. Many unicellular organisms can do several at the same time. Some unicellular organisms can metamorpihize in a dozen ways, each stage doing something different (dinoflagellates).

There is a far larger variety of lifestyles among unicellular organisms than among multicellular organisms. You probably know that multicellular organisms have an incredibly large variety of life styles already.

So it would be impossible to provide one unique answer to your question.

hope it helps...
